77-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed In Dania Beach Crash
DANIA BEACH, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — 77-Year-Old Doris Ann Sandman was killed when she was hit by a car in Dania Beach on Thursday.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that a 77-year-old woman was struck and killed in Dania Beach, and detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
The collision occurred shortly after 2 a.m., Thursday, Aug 18, near the 400 block of South Federal Highway in Dania Beach. According to investigators, a 2020 Kia Forte was traveling southbound on South Federal Highway in the left thru lane approaching the 400 block. At the same time, the victim, identified as Doris Sandman, was on foot, crossing the roadway in an undesignated crosswalk area in an unknown direction.
Detectives say the front of the Kia struck Sandman while traveling in the left southbound thru lane and that the pedestrian and Kia came to a final rest south of where the initial impact occurred.
BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded, and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene.
