In an event honoring bravery and courage at the Broward Sheriff’s Office 2024 Annual Awards Ceremony on April 25th of 2025 five individuals received the Medal of Honor for their remarkable acts of selflessness and valor. One hero fearlessly plunged into waters in a courageous endeavor to rescue a teenager drowning perilously. Three others bravely entered a firefight to confront an assailant threatening lives. Additionally a fourth individual dashed towards the site of a helicopter crash to shield others from harm while risking their own safety. “We may not have power, over the results we achieve but we can influence the level of effort we put in ” remarked Sheriff Dr Gregory Tony as he reflected on the actions taken by every Medal of Honor recipient in times of danger without hesitation. “They dedicated every bit of their energy to providing a glimmer of hope for others to reunite with their families safely ” he added solemnly. These distinguished individuals who received the Medal of Honor were part of a group of 450 staff members recognized during the event held on Thursday evening in April.
