Deerfield Beach Hit-And-Run Crash Leaves Motorcyclist In Critical Condition

DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is currently looking into a hit and run incident that occurred late on Monday night in Deerfield Beach, resulting in severe injuries to a motorcyclist.

As per the investigation, at approximately 10;23 p.m. On Monday, March 11, reports were received by Broward County Regional Communications regarding a hit and run accident between a car and a motorcycle at the intersection of Southwest 10th Street and South Dixie Highway in Deerfield Beach. Responding to the scene were BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.

Initial findings suggest that the driver of a silver Hyundai Elantra sedan from 2016 2019 was traveling eastbound on Southwest 10th Street while a motorcyclist on a Honda CBR 1000 from 2006 was heading westbound on the same road. Upon entering the intersection and attempting to turn left to head north onto South Dixie Highway, the Hyundai driver turned directly into the path of the motorcyclist.

The motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the car in a sideswipe accident, causing the motorcyclist to be thrown off their bike. Subsequently, the driver of the car proceeded north on South Dixie Highway. Emergency responders rushed the injured motorcyclist to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.
