Key West, FL – The Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — Monroe County Sheriff’s Office had to process the arrest of two of their own early Saturday morning. Monroe Counter Sheriff’s Deputies Connor Curry and Trevor Pike were arrested by Key West Police Department after the two of them were allegedly involved in a brawl with a group of Sailors which led one of them needing to be airlifted for medical assistance.
The two deputies were off-duty and got in to a brawl with a group of sailors in Key West early in the morning on Saturday. Key West Police Department responded to the brawl and made several arrests. Deputy Curry, 23, was arrested for disorderly conduct. Deputy Pike, 25, was arrested for disorderly conduct as well as a felony battery. The sailors involved in the brawl were all charged with disorderly conduct.
The brawl allegedly started after an argument that had started at around 2AM on Duval Street, the popular area people go to drink and party.
Key West Police Officers allege that they observed Pike punch a 27 year old in the head while Curry pushed him. The victim fell and hit his head requiring him to be air lifted to a Miami hospital.
Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay announced in a statement that both deputies are suspended without pay effective immediately. Ramsay said he is “saddened by this incident and it will be fully investigated.”
