At approximately 6:13 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 26, Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a shooting on Interstate 95 southbound, north of Oakland Park Boulevard. Broward Sheriff’s Office Oakland Park District deputies, Florida Highway Patrol troopers, Oakland Park Fire Rescue and the Fort Lauderdale Police Department responded and located an adult male who had been shot. The man was transported by paramedics to an area hospital and was pronounced deceased. At the request of FHP, detectives with Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Detectives are currently speaking with additional subjects who were on scene. At this time, I-95 southbound from Cypress Creek Road to Oakland Park Boulevard is shut down to traffic.
