BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) —If you use Glades Road, brace yourself. The railroad crossing will be closed this weekend while Florida East Coast Railway crews finish a round of maintenance that’s been moving through the city all month.
The closure starts Saturday, November 1 at 6 p.m. and is expected to run through late Monday night, possibly into early Tuesday morning if weather gets in the way.
It’s the last stop in FEC’s list of Boca crossings that have been shut down over the past few weeks — Hidden Valley, Spanish River, 20th Street, Camino Real, and SW 18th Street already had their turn.
The company said it tries to keep only one crossing closed at a time, though sometimes “two closures at the same time may be possible.” Each job takes about two to three days, usually starting after rush hour.
Glades Road, though, is a busy one. It connects FAU, Town Center, and I-95, so traffic will back up fast once barricades go up. Detours will be posted.
Pedestrian routes will shift too. Workers on site will guide people around the closure.
The project started back on October 6 and wraps up November 5, part of FEC’s regular track upkeep.
If you’re heading east or west across town, plan extra time or take Palmetto Park or Yamato instead.
