William Gorey Of Boca Raton Arrested For Aggravated Battery And Gun Charges

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — William Morey of Boca Raton has been arrested and charged with several serious felony charges including aggravated battery and weapons charges according to jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

William Morey, 18, of the 690 block of SW 14th Street in east Boca Raton, has been arrested by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office. Boca Post has been notified that the charges include:

  • AGGRAV BATTERY – CAUSE BODILY HARM OR DISABILITY
  • CARRYING CONCEALED WEAPON – UNLICENSED FIREARM
  • WEAPON OFFENSE – UNDER 18 YOA UNLAWFUL POSS FIREARM
  • BATTERY – TOUCH OR STRIKE

Morey was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 3:40 PM on Friday, September 16th, 2022.

William Morey is the suspect in the Boca Raton shooting that Boca Post was the first to report on in August. Morey was arrested by PBSO on a warrant requested by Boca Raton Police. The attempted murder charge appears to have not made it to the court docket. Morey, who was represented by a lawyer during his initial interrogation with law enforcement, is now being charged with aggravated battery as well as some weapons charges.

The arrest comes after a shooting that occurred near 398 SW 8th on August 28th, 2022. That is when, according to Police, Morey shot another teenager in the stomach. The two were part of two different groups of teens who, earlier in the day, were allegedly involved in a confrontation in the Boca Town Center Mall.

While Boca Raton Police say that Morey “did unlawfully attempt to kill a human being”, he is charged with aggravated battery.

Boca Post has reached out to BRPD for clarification as to why Morey is not being charged with attempted murder instead of the much less severe aggravated battery charges.
