Plinio Roberto De Camargo Junior, 47, has been arrested by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office. Boca Post has been notified that Plinio Roberto De Camargo Junior has been charged with two counts of animal abuse after videos and reports surfaced of how he treats dogs at his dog grooming shop.

Plinio Roberto De Camargo Junior and his wife, Alessandra Bresciani Barreto, of Deerfield Beach, own the dog grooming business which is located in The Boardwalk at 18th Street shopping plaza, better known as “The Boardwalk” to many of us who live in central and west Boca Raton.

According to an arrest affidavit submitted by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the department investigated claims of animal cruelty and abuse, when an employee came forward to report Plinio Roberto De Camargo Junior, was mistreating the animals under his care. The report states that several groomers have quit due to the abuse they have witnessed. The whistleblower provided video evidence to PBSO investigators and remains fully committed to the investigation.

The report also states that there were two previous CrimeStoppers complaints that were investigated; however, the investigations were closed due to a lack of evidence. One of those investigations was around a dog who passed away following a visit to American Dog Pet Grooming.

The employee of American Dog Pet Grooming was said to have submitted 5 videos capturing the abuse which led investigators to eventually file for a warrant to arrest Plinio Roberto De Camargo Junior.

The whistleblower says that when De Camargo abuses a dog, his wife, Alessandra Bresciani Barreto, informs the dog owner their dog was stressed and had a difficult time being groomed.

In all, the affidavit alleges that Plinio Roberto De Camargo Junior intentionally tormented dogs in the care of American Dog Pet Grooming by punching and striking the dogs multiple times while also pulling the dog’s hair in a cruel and inhumane manner, on several occasions.

Plinio Roberto De Camargo Junior was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail at 5:19 PM on Friday, October 28th, 2022. Plinio Roberto De Camargo Junior is scheduled to see a judge for his first appearance later this morning.
