LAUDERDALE LAKES, FL (Boca Post) — A 43-year-old man has been killed after driving a Ford Explorer into a tree in the median of West Oakland Park Boulevard on Sunday, March 6th, 2022.

From Broward Sheriff’s Office:

A driver is killed after striking a tree in Lauderdale Lakes, and detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding this fatal single-vehicle crash.
At approximately 6:26 p.m., Sunday, March 6, Eliot Laffite was traveling westbound in a 1998 Ford Explorer in the 5000 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderdale Lakes. The on scene investigation revealed that Laffite lost control of the vehicle, and the car rotated toward the center median, where it struck a tree.
BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded, and Laffite was pronounced deceased on scene.
Detectives say there is no evidence to suggest another vehicle was involved in the crash; however, excessive speed does appear to be a factor. Impairment does not. The investigation continues.
