LAUDERHILL, FL (Boca Post) — Two deputies are in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries in the aftermath of a traffic stop initiated in Lauderdale Lakes when deputies pulled over a vehicle for reckless driving.

The BSO Public Information Office is currently working a developing incident regarding a deputy involved accident located at: Oakland Park Boulevard and Rock Island Road, Lauderhill.

Just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies in BSO’s Lauderdale Lakes District responded to a report of a reckless driver in the area of State Road 7 and Oakland Park Boulevard. A deputy on foot attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the driver drove off, hitting the deputy, causing injuries to the deputy. A pursuit ensued into the city of Lauderhill, where a crash occurred involving several vehicles, including a BSO deputy. The driver fled on foot and was detained by BSO deputies, with the assistance of Lauderhill Police. Two deputies were transported to an area hospital with injuries that are not considered to be life threatening. A driver involved in the crash was also transported to an area hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life threatening. Detectives with BSO’s Traffic Homicide and Violent Crimes units are on scene investigating the circumstances of the incident. At this time, Oakland Park Boulevard is shut down between Rock Island Road and Northwest 55th Avenue
