NORTH PALM BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — The Village of North Palm Beach announced on Friday that Village Councilmember Kristin Garrison passed away while the community mourned her death as a respected neighbor and trusted leader who dedicated her public service to more than thirty years.

“It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Village Councilmember Kristin Garrison,” the village said in a statement. The announcement described Garrison’s work on the council as sincere and thoughtful, rooted in what the village called a genuine love for the community.

Garrison joined the Village Council in 2024, according to the village. Officials stated that she handled her duties by showing empathy while dedicating herself to helping others which resulted in a permanent change for the village.

The village acknowledged her complete government service through her many years of public administration experience. The official statement showed that Garrison dedicated more than 35 years to public service before he started her role as Gulf Stream Town City Manager. She later spent more than 20 years with a school district, serving as Director of Planning and Intergovernmental Relations.

The village recognized her as a devoted professional who maintained professional standards while dedicating her life to serving their local communities.

The news of her passing brought numerous expressions of sympathy and remembrances from individuals who claimed to have collaborated with her during their time at work.

“I have been fortunate to know Kris since our days on Planning Commission,” one commenter wrote. “She displayed ethical conduct because she dedicated herself to helping others and she proved both mental competence and total commitment to her professional duties. Always the consummate professional along with being a genuinely nice person.”

Orlando Puyol who worked with her on the village council described her dedication to residents as absolute. He sent his prayers to her husband Ed and their entire family.

Others emphasized her personal warmth along with her work ethic.

“I have been fortunate to know Kris since our days on Planning Commission,” one commenter wrote. “She was ethical, kind, smart, and hard working. Always the consummate professional along with being a genuinely nice person.”

Orlando Puyol, who said he served with her on the village council, wrote that her commitment to residents “was unconditional,” adding that his prayers were with her husband, Ed, and family.

Marty Sanders called her “a great colleague and collaborator” and said she was a sounding board on issues, adding that she “gave a great deal to the community.”

“So incredibly saddened by this,” Kim DeLaney wrote. “Kris was one of the most talented professionals and genuinely good humans who graced my life.”

Melissa McKinlay shared the same opinion when she stated “Oh no! I am so sorry. She always brightened every room she entered.”

Multiple users expressed their shock at the news while several others mentioned her age and at least one person inquired about the death circumstances. The village’s statement did not include additional information beyond the announcement and did not describe circumstances surrounding her death.

The community demonstrated their backing for Garrison’s family members together with everyone who loved her

as they honored her commitment to her work as a neighbor.

The village sent its deepest sympathy to Kristin’s family members and everyone who loved her during this time of remembrance. “She will always be remembered as a valued neighbor, a trusted leader, and a cherished member of the Village family.”

For North Palm Beach residents, her death leaves an immediate void on the dais and in day-to-day village life, the kind that shows up in small interactions as much as in formal votes. The tributes which appeared following the announcement focused on her personal qualities instead of her political career because they highlighted her dependable nature and her ability to prepare for situations and her practice of treating others with respect.

The local government reputation in this community remains enduring because the government operates at a personal level which maintains direct contact with the community members.
