FLORIDA (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — The Florida Department of Health published results from their statewide infant formula testing program which ran under the Healthy Florida First initiative to detect contaminants in popular infant formula brands.

The findings were shared during a public update alongside Governor Ron DeSantis, First Lady Casey DeSantis, and State Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo. The program works to disclose information about early childhood feeding practices and substances which could impact baby growth during their first years of life.

Infant formula functions as a vital nutritional source which supports the development of numerous Florida families during their early stages. State health officials presented the testing as a consumer-information program which provided parents and caregivers with direct information about what substances exist in infant products.

The state released testing materials which showed that scientists tested different infant formulas for arsenic and mercury and cadmium and lead and pesticide contaminants. The results presented measurements in parts per billion which showed both typical and highest detected amounts of each contaminant.

The published charts demonstrate that some formula products tested above the maximum daily intake thresholds which federal health agencies established. The test results showed that products had varying levels of contaminants which depended on both the substance type and the product composition.

The testing included three different types of infant formulas which were powdered and liquid concentrate and ready-to-feed from major brands and organic and specialty product lines. The Department of Health conducted independent testing of the formulas which appeared in the published results through this initiative.

The state’s materials show that children need suitable nutrition during their first years because it helps their bodies and brains develop properly. The officials explained that parents need to know what ingredients are in infant formula because this information helps them choose suitable products which their babies will need throughout their first year of life.

A Chart Released By The Florida Department Of Health Shows Contaminant Testing Results For Multiple Infant Formula Products Under The Healthy Florida First Initiative.

The Healthy Florida First initiative functions as a core element which enables continuous public health assessment work. The Department of Health continues to maintain its dedication to making manufacturers responsible for ensuring the health and safety of Florida residents especially those who are infants and children according to their official statements.

The testing data does not constitute a product recall. The materials did not include any statement which would stop consumers from using particular product formulas and they did not specify any enforcement procedures. The company reached its disclosure and transparency targets through this disclosure.

Parents who doubt their infant’s feeding requirements need to examine all test results before they seek pediatric health specialist advice about their child’s diet.

Additional information about the Healthy Florida First initiative and the full infant formula testing results is available through the state’s public information portal.
