BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — Everyone knows 911, but did you know about 988? Last week, 988 has been designated nationally as the three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

This week, the United States successfully transitioned into the 988 Suicide & Crisis Hotline. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Of course, the original 1-800-273-8255 number will still route to the newly named 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) says the program received a $432 Million dollar investment from the Biden-Harris administration which they attribute the growth to.

The 988 Lifeline is now reachable across the entire United States by just dialing ‘988’. For more information, see 988lifeline.org.

According to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner, there were 243 suicides in Palm Beach County last year (2021). That number is up from 172 the year before (2020).
