UPDATE – 12/10/22

FLPD has identified and arrested the suspect involved in this shooting homicide. The suspect has been identified as Alexander Vargas Perez, H/M, DOB 7/11/1997. Perez was taken into custody on Friday, December 9th, by FLPD and charged with First Degree Murder.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Boca Post) — The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that left 1 man dead on Parameter road near Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.

Police say that at approximately 8:13 am, FLPD, and FLFR responded to reports of a shooting in the 1800 block of S Perimeter Road. Upon arrival, one adult male victim was located with gunshot wounds. Officers performed CPR and tactical medical care until FLFR arrived. The victim was later pronounced deceased on the scene by FLFR. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The Fort Lauderdale Police say that they are aware of misinformation being circulated about a suspect in custody. A spokesperson with the department tells Boca Post that no suspect is in custody to spite the rumors. The department tells us that a vehicle matching the suspected vehicle was stopped in Pompano Beach; however, that vehicle was released shortly after.

This is an active scene and the investigation is ongoing.
