FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Boca Post) — Fort Lauderdale Police Department announcing today that they have arrested one of their own for theft.

A statement from Fort Lauderdale PD says that McDowell has turned himself in to the Broward County jail. County records confirm that McDowell was in custody at the time of this writing.

Fort Lauderdale Police Department said that the Broward County State Attorney’s Office filed charges against McDowell upon receiving the results of an investigation completed by the department’s Public Corruption Unit.

McDowell is accused of stealing by falsifying time records in getting paid for working off-duty details while actually on-duty.

McDowell has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of criminal prosecution.

McDowell is being charged with the following:

  • ORGANIZED SCHEME TO DEFRAUD (817.034-4a2)
  • 3 counts of GRAND THEFT>$750<$5000 (812.014-2c1)
