DELRAY BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — The Delray Beach Police Department is excited to announce the incorporation of FUSUS technology into its Real Time Crime Center.

The Delray Beach Police Department is excited to announce the incorporation of FUSUS technology into its Real Time Crime Center, which will enhance the department’s ability to swiftly and effectively monitor and respond to criminal activities.

“With the implementation of FUSUS technology in our Real-Time Crime Center, we are taking a significant step forward in our mission to ensure the safety and security of our community,” said Delray Beach Police Chief Russ Mager. “This cutting-edge solution equips our officers with the tools they need to proactively address criminal activities and enhance public safety.”

FUSUS, a top provider of advanced surveillance solutions, enables law enforcement to seamlessly combine video feeds from city owned cameras strategically positioned throughout Delray Beach, along with cameras owned by local businesses and residents. The Real Time Crime Center, located at the Delray Beach Police Headquarters, supervises this extensive network.

This integration equips law enforcement officers with a comprehensive and real time awareness of ongoing incidents, enabling quicker responses and improved situational understanding.

FUSUS gives camera owners the flexibility to control the sharing of their live video. Owners can choose whether they wish to continuously livestream their cameras or grant access only when an incident is reported. The FUSUS platform empowers law enforcement agencies with advanced analytics capabilities that help them identify patterns, detect anomalies and anticipate potential threats before they escalate.

The Delray Beach Police Department remains dedicated to embracing innovative solutions that boost public safety and foster community relationships. The adoption of FUSUS technology signifies a significant investment in the department’s capabilities and underscores its commitment to serving and safeguarding the residents of Delray Beach.

Some residents are calling the integration an invasion of privacy in the name of “public safety”. Privacy-conscious technologists advise that while FUSUS may require your consent to provide access to your cameras to local law enforcement, that process may not always be clear. Privacy advocates say you should think twice before registering any home surveillance equipment with FUSUS.

Other residents say that they have “nothing to hide” and are happy to help law enforcement by submitting their private CCTV feeds. Local residents must consent to provide FUSUS with free access to their own cameras, so FUSUS/AXON, a for-profit company, can then sell local law enforcement agencies access to a “Real-Time Intelligence Ecosystem”.
