DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives arrested the man they say is responsible for a fatal shooting that left 33-year-old Leotis James Breedlove Jr. dead in Deerfield Beach on Sunday morning.

The shooting was reported at about 10:22 a.m. on Nov. 23, when Broward County Regional Communications received a call about gunfire near the 200 block of Northwest Second Way in Deerfield Beach, according to information provided by the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Deputies from BSO’s Deerfield Beach District and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded.

First responders found Breedlove Jr. outside a residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported him to Broward Health North. He was later pronounced deceased. Detectives with the Homicide Unit were then called to the scene to begin the investigation.

According to BSO, the shooter ran from the location after the attack. Witness information and investigative leads helped homicide detectives narrow the search. Through what the agency described as “investigative methods,” members of the Threat Intervention Tactics Analytics Network (T.I.T.A.N.) located the suspect, 32-year-old Jarvis Chinn, near the 200 block of Northwest 30th Avenue in Pompano Beach.

Chinn was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. As of Sunday, he faces one count of first-degree murder with a firearm. Investigators say the case remains active.

Both the victim and the suspect list the same address — 251 N.W. Second Way in Deerfield Beach. No motive has been released at this time.

Detectives have not said whether additional arrests or charges are expected. The Broward Sheriff’s Office indicated the investigation is ongoing and did not provide further details.
