One woman tragically lost her life in Oakland Park during a car accident that occurred at around 10;37 a.m on Thursday the 17th of April. The Broward Sheriff’s Office district deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a single car crash to the 2900 block of North Dixie Highway. Deputies from BSO reached the crash site where paramedics sadly confirmed that the driver named Judith A Power had passed away at the scene. The Traffic Homicide Unit detectives, from BSO arrived to conduct an investigation into the incident. During the examination they found out that Power was, behind the wheel of a 2016 Volkswagen Beetle heading north on North Dixie Highway when it suddenly turned right onto the raised curb and drove onto the sidewalk accidentally. According to investigators the Volkswagen kept moving on the sidewalk and hit a big tree in the east swale area. The car spun around the tree during impact causing its engine to be ejected from its compartment. After the car hit the tree and rebounded from the impact with force the Volkswagen ended up back on the road before coming to a stop, in the lanes of traffic. Authorities have confirmed that no one else was hurt in the accident. They are still looking into the matter.
