On February 11th of the year 2025 according to the calendar date notation with detectives from the Broward Sheriffs Office Threat Management Unit (TMU) a man from New Jersey aged 22 has been taken into custody for placing swatting calls that led law enforcement to respond to false emergencies in Parkland in August of 2024 as per BSO deputies reports, on two separate occasions involving alleged shootings at different homes where one call claimed a victim was shot in the chest and held hostage while another suggested that the caller had shot his sister. Upon arriving at the locations of both incidents swiftly assessed by deputies revealed that the reported events were baseless and no individuals sustained any injuries. Despite the callers attempts to hide their identity using apps and phone numbers along with advanced technology tools the investigators from BSOs Technical Monitoring Unit and detectives from the Real Time Crime Center managed to unveil the identity of the individual responsible for the false report as Justin Flavien from Maywood, in New Jersey. The Technical Monitoring Unit investigators collaborated with the Maywood Police Department to secure search warrants for his residence. Several electronic gadgets were. It was revealed that Flavien might have carried out similar pranks across the nation. Flavien was apprehended by the Maywood Police Department on January 21. Later transferred to Broward County on Friday February 7. He is charged with two offenses related to making reports, about a bomb or weapon of mass destruction and using a communication device to aid in committing felony crimes.
