Week officers, from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit apprehended a man connected to a tragic accident that took place in Pompano Beach.
At 4;15 in the morning on Sunday the 13th of October,the Broward County Regional Communications received a report regarding an individual found in the middle of the street close to the 1700 block of North Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach.Deputies from BSO and the Pompano Beach Fire Rescue team promptly arrived at the scene.Upon arrival,emergency responders discovered a man lying on the road with injuries consistent, with being struck by a vehicle.Tragically,the victim was declared deceased at the scene.
Investigators from the BSO concluded that the car components found at the crash site suggested that the vehicle involved in the hit and run was a silver Nissan Rogue manufactured between 2008 and 2013 with damage, to its front end.
Detectives found a Nissan Rogue in Coral Springs on Sunday that showed signs of hitting a pedestrian and matched the pieces gathered at the crash site that night. They reached out to the cars owner Willian Beltran Velasquez (31). Took him into custody, for leaving the accident scene where someone died and tampering with evidence. Velasquez was then taken to Broward County Main Jail for booking purposes.
