Bso Detectives Arrest 23-Year-Old In Deadly Lauderdale Lakes Shooting

Police officers from the Broward Sheriff’s Office have apprehended a 23 year old individual in connection with a fatal shooting incident that occurred in Lauderdale Lakes. The victim, identified as Decarlo Horton, an 18 year old male, tragically lost his life during the incident on February 25, 2024. The suspect, Jamariel Johnson, was taken into custody following the investigation by the Homicide Unit. Reports of a shooting in the vicinity of North Pacific Breeze Circle prompted a swift response from law enforcement and emergency services on that evening. Despite efforts to save him, Decarlo Horton succumbed to his injuries at Broward Health Medical Center.BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene teams were called in to investigate the situation. Detectives used their investigative techniques to pinpoint Jamariel Johnson, aged 23, as the perpetrator. As per the BSO Homicide Unit detectives, the inquiry uncovered that the shooting incident stemmed from an exchange on OfferUp involving a watch sale. Johnson was apprehended on a first degree murder charge with a firearm on Wednesday, August 7 and was subsequently taken to Broward County Main Jail following his arrest.
