BOYNTON BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — PBSO is finally saying something after one of their off-duty deputies shot and killed a man in unincorporated Boynton Beach on Saturday.

Deputies rolled out around 5:21 p.m. Saturday to Water Course Way for an altercation involving one of their own who wasn’t on duty at the time. They found a man — later identified as Jean Joseph, 61, from Greenacres — already dead when they arrived.

The deputy is on paid leave, standard protocol, but still a note when it happens. FDLE has the case now and says the investigation continues. More to come.

PBSO released the following brief statement today:

On Saturday, December 6, 2025, at approximately 5:21 p.m., deputies responded to a reported altercation involving an off-duty deputy and an adult male in the 9000 block of Water Course Way, unincorporated Boynton Beach. Upon arrival, deputies located a deceased male, identified as Jean Joseph, 61, of Greenacres.

The off-duty deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with standard agency protocol. The investigation is active and ongoing. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is the lead investigating agency.
