Boynton Beach Police Arrest Three Juveniles After Shots Fired Strike Occupied Home

BOYNTON BEACH, FL — Boynton Beach Police are investigating a shooting that left an occupied home riddled with bullet strikes Monday afternoon and ended hours later with three juveniles taken into custody.

Around 3:30 p.m. on February 16, the Boynton Beach Police Department Communications Center received reports of multiple shots fired near the 200 block of Southwest 12th Avenue. Officers responded and located multiple spent shell casings in the area. An occupied residence had been struck several times.

No injuries were reported.

Police did not release the identities of those inside the home, but confirmed the residence was occupied at the time of the gunfire. Officers secured the scene and began processing evidence.

Later that evening, road patrol officers located a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle connected to the shooting. Officers conducted a traffic stop. As the vehicle came to a stop, three occupants exited and fled on foot.

Two of the individuals were quickly apprehended. The third ran into a residence near the 800 block of Southeast 3rd Street.

Officers established a perimeter around the home and issued verbal commands for the suspect to exit. Police say the individual eventually complied and came out without further incident.

All three suspects were identified as juveniles. Each was arrested on charges of resisting arrest.

Detectives located additional evidence during the investigation that may be connected to the earlier shooting. Police have not disclosed what that evidence included.

The Boynton Beach Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the gunfire, including what led to the shooting and whether additional charges will be filed.

Residents in the surrounding neighborhoods may have noticed an increased police presence during the afternoon and evening hours as officers secured the scene and searched for suspects. Police have not indicated any ongoing threat to the public.

Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact the Boynton Beach Police Department.
