Four Arrested In Boca Raton For Stolen Car

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A group of four were arrested after being caught driving a stolen car in Boca Raton, according to jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

On Thursday evening, officers from the Boca Raton Police Department were working in conjunction with the South Florida Task Force (SFTF) to combat burglaries, stolen vehicles, and other thefts. While in a covert surveillance operation, the task force observed a stolen 2018 Infinity Q60 in the area of 1650 NW 4th Ave in Boca Raton. BRPD says that the suspect, Marcus Mitchell, 21, of Coral Springs, was the suspect in an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon investigation by the Broward Sheriff’s Office, who was active in this task force.

Boca Raton Police Department Special Investigations Unit (SIU) located the above stolen Infiniti at 1650 NW 4th Ave, unoccupied in the parking lot. Covert Surveillance was established on the Infiniti. Eventually, the Infiniti became occupied and began traveling to Broward County and BSO Aviation assumed surveillance. As the vehicle traversed through Broward County into Deerfield Beach. The Infiniti began traveling at a high rate of speed with the lights off. The Infiniti reentered Palm Beach County via Dixie Highway.

BSO Aviation maintained surveillance as the Infiniti traveled to 285 NW 15th St, Boca Raton. BSO Aviation advised that 4 subjects bailed out of the vehicle and began running northbound on NW 15th Vista. BSO Aviation continued following the driver of the vehicle while additional BAT Detectives and BRPD Units responded to the location of the bailout.

BSO BAT Detective Newton advised that he observed the 4 suspects running away from the Infiniti. Detective Newton advised he clearly announced “Police, stop” but the 4 suspects ignored his lawful commands to stop. All 4 suspects continued to flee the area. BSO Aviation advised the driver, later identified as B/M Dadrian Witty (8/28/03), was observed running westbound onto NW 4th Ave and eventually entering the Casa Del Rio apartment complex.

While Witty was continuing to run through the apartment complex, BSO Aviation observed Witty near a parked vehicle and then running away from the car. BAT Detective Duran took Witty into custody without incident near the Casa Del Rio apartments located on the 400 block of NW 20th street in Boca Raton. BSO Aviation maintained a constant visual of Witty during the entire encounter. It should be noted that Witty was wearing a beanie when taken into custody; it was taken off due to Witty complaining of being hot. A search of Witty revealed Witty to have the key fob to the Infiniti in his front left pocket.

Eventually, Detective Newton took B/M Marcus Mitchell into custody after a short foot pursuit. BRPD Sgt. Frenz took Caitlyn Divet (01/28/01) into custody after giving up after initially running away from Detective Newton. BSO Detective Bradshaw took B/F Ebony Silvas-Price (7/2/00) into custody after she gave up. The 3 suspects were taken into custody at 1750 NW 15th Vista. It should be noted that Witty was observed exiting the driver’s seat and Mitchell was also observed exiting the driver’s side door after Witty. BSO Aviation was unsure of which female was seated where in the vehicle, but it was confirmed they were in the backseat of the vehicle.

It was later determined that Witty was attempting to forcefully enter an occupied vehicle; due to the actions of the owner, he was unsuccessful. The driver advised that she was in the driver’s seat of her car when a black male wearing what she believed was a gray hoodie and black beanie, pulled on the driver’s side door handle. She pulled the door back closed but he continued to continue to try to open the door.

Due to Witty forcefully trying to open the door, the driver advised she was in fear that he was going to enter the vehicle. She then put the vehicle in drive and drove off. The driver confirmed she was in fear that he was trying to get into the car which caused her to drive off. It should be noted that while speaking with all 3 subjects in the vehicle, they were distraught and visibly shaken up. A sworn audio statement was obtained from the driver.

The four suspects were arrested and now face the following charges:
