Emergency Closures: Palm Beach & Broward

The local emergency closures were all in Palm Beach County, according to the state’s weekly closure extract.

In Palm Beach Gardens, Mr Gyros Greek & Mediterranean, license number 6020254, was approved for emergency closure on March 30 after inspectors documented roach activity. State records show the restaurant was later cleared to reopen on March 31.

In Boynton Beach, Sabor Latino, license number 6020045, was closed March 31 for roach activity and reopened April 1. Inspection data tied to that closure shows inspectors also documented four high-priority violations, including unsafe food source issues, temperature-control problems, cross-contamination risk, and pest activity.

In Lake Worth, Mofongo Candela, license number 6020586, was closed March 31 for roach activity and reopened April 1. According to state inspection data, that visit also produced six high-priority violations, including unsafe food source issues, unsafe food temperatures, cross-contamination risk, and pest activity.

In Delray Beach, Caffe Luna Rosa, license number 6010974, was closed April 2 under an emergency order tied to rodent, roach, and fly activity. The associated inspection also documented sewage or wastewater disposal problems, plumbing issues, and five high-priority violations. State records show the restaurant was approved to reopen April 3 after a callback inspection.

An emergency closure is not a disciplinary action. It is a temporary step inspectors use when conditions pose an elevated risk to the public or to employees, and the business stays closed until those conditions are corrected.

Other Florida Emergency Closures

Statewide, the weekly closure file shows 19 emergency closures, including the four in Palm Beach County.

Outside the local area, notable examples included Peking One in Miami, closed for rodent, roach and fly activity; Dill-icious Hot Dogs in Orlando, closed for no potable water; and Gateway Golf in Fort Myers, closed for rodent activity. Rodents were the most common single closure reason in the statewide file, followed by roaches.

Inspections This Week: High-Priority Violations

State records show 393 inspections across Palm Beach and Broward during the reporting cycle, including 244 in Palm Beach County and 149 in Broward County. Most did not result in emergency closures, but several inspections documented multiple high-priority violations or gross risk factors such as pests, sewage issues, and unsafe food temperatures.

In Boca Raton, Yakitori Sake House, license number 6013492, was inspected March 30 and cited for 5 high-priority, 3 intermediate, and 3 basic violations.
