Expect Slight Chlorine Smell / Taste. Flushing January 23rd, 2022 – February 6th, 2022.

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — The City of Boca Raton tells us that they will be flushing their water system starting on January 23rd, 2022 through February 6th, 2022.

The City of Boca Raton tells Boca Post that as part of a regular maintenance, the city will be flushing their water system. The modified disinfection process may produce a chlorine taste / smell in the water as the City flushes the system.

This is an industry standard process which is necessary to maintain clean water lines. If you recall, Boca Post recently reported on a similar water system flush that occurred in unincorporated Boca Raton as well as across Palm Beach County.

The city says the slight chlorine smell should not cause any concern as it is not a health risk.

The city will also be flushing fire hydrants at this time. You may notice water in streets and swales. Don’t be alarmed if you see hydrants discharging large amounts of water.
