BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — The Boca Raton Police Department will have a new acting chief next week as the city continues its search for the department’s next permanent leader.

Acting Police Chief Liz Robert’s last day with the City of Boca Raton will be Monday, April 27, as she leaves for a new opportunity in the private sector. Robert served the city for 20 years, including during the current leadership transition at the Boca Raton Police Department.

The city said it is grateful for Robert’s leadership and service to the department, the city and the community.

Seth Dubinsky will serve as Acting Police Chief while the city continues the hiring process for a permanent chief. City leadership is expected to begin interviews next week, with a final selection anticipated in June.

The position is one of the city’s most visible public safety roles. The Boca Raton Police Department handles law enforcement services within the city, while the permanent police chief is ultimately part of the city administration under the direction of city leadership.

Dubinsky has spent 23 years in law enforcement. His public service career began with the Florida Army National Guard and the Florida Highway Patrol before he joined the Boca Raton Police Department in 2011.

Inside the department, Dubinsky has worked across several areas of police operations. He served as a patrol officer and property crimes detective early in his Boca Raton career before moving into supervisory roles.

As a sergeant and lieutenant, Dubinsky oversaw midnight shift operations and specialized teams, including the Marine, Canine and Traffic units. In 2023, he was promoted to captain, where he led the East and West Districts, the Professional Standards Bureau and the Support Services Bureau.

Dubinsky has also served as a coordinator for the department’s Peer Support Team and assisted with management of the department’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems program.

His educational background includes a Master of Public Administration from Florida International University, with a focus on emergency management, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida.

Dubinsky is also a graduate of the Florida Leadership Academy, the FBI LEEDA Trilogy and the Florida Future Chiefs of Police program.

He is a member of several law enforcement organizations, including the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Florida Police Chiefs Association, the Palm Beach County Police Chiefs Association and the Police Executive Research Forum.

His recognitions include a Lifesaving Award, the Chief’s Special Recognition Award and the Professional Partnership Award from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue for work tied to crisis intervention and peer support programs.

For residents, the immediate change is administrative. Dubinsky will lead the Boca Raton Police Department during the transition period while the city moves through interviews and selection for a permanent chief.

The city expects that process to continue through the coming weeks, with a final decision planned for June.
