Child Likely Consumed "Jolly" Gummy, Containing 125mg THC

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A Boca Raton woman was arrested this week after police say her two-year-old daughter tested positive for THC following a medical emergency at the family’s home.

According to an arrest report from the Boca Raton Police Department, officers responded around 7:30 p.m. on October 29, 2025, after the child became unresponsive. Boca Raton Fire Rescue transported the girl to West Boca Medical Center, where tests later confirmed the presence of THC in her system, police wrote in the report.

Investigators said Arlyn Vanessa Lopez, 32, told officers she had put her daughter to bed around 5 p.m. and found her unresponsive two hours later. Lopez said she occasionally used “Jolly” brand THC gummies for anxiety and believed she had discarded the last of them earlier that day. She also recalled dropping some gummies on the porch about a week prior but thought she had picked them all up.

The report notes Lopez showed officers an empty “Jolly” gummy bag from the trash outside the home. Each gummy reportedly contained 125 milligrams of THC.

Two older children in the home, ages 9 and 13, told police they had seen their mother consume THC gummies before but said their younger sibling did not take them.

After medical staff confirmed THC in the toddler’s system, police arrested Lopez on one count of Neglect of a Child Without Great Bodily Harm, a third-degree felony under Florida Statute 827.03(2)(d).

Court records show Lopez appeared before a Palm Beach County judge on October 30, 2025, where several conditions were imposed: she is prohibited from using alcohol, illegal drugs, or non-prescription substances and must submit to random testing. The court also issued an order of no contact with the victim and no contact with minor children, leaving any supervised contact decisions to the Florida Department of Children and Families.

Lopez remains free pending trial, according to court filings reviewed by Boca Post.
