BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Sunday, March 29, 2026 BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Expect a windy, unsettled Sunday with showers likely this morning and additional rounds of showers and a few thunderstorms possible this afternoon. High temperatures top out near 76, but it will feel cooler at the beach with persistent onshore wind and clouds. East winds stay breezy all day, with gusts around 25 mph and potentially higher near the coastline. Beach and boating conditions are hazardous, and heavier downpours could briefly flood poor-drainage streets

Boca Raton’s weather today is being driven mostly by what’s happening near the ground rather than a strong storm system overhead. The National Weather Service notes a front has pushed into South Florida, and it’s tightening the pressure difference between that boundary and a large area of high pressure to our north.

That setup is acting like a wind machine, keeping a steady northeast-to-east breeze going and pulling Atlantic moisture onshore. With that moisture in place, expect scattered showers through the morning with a few embedded thunderstorms.

The atmosphere isn’t set up for tall, severe storms, but the Gulf Stream’s warm waters can help keep showers regenerating and moving into the same coastal neighborhoods. That’s why forecasters are highlighting the potential for pockets of localized urban flooding, especially where repeated downpours hit the same area.

Rain totals are still a bit uncertain because the heaviest bands will depend on small-scale wind shifts near the coast. The most likely outcome for metro Southeast Florida is around 0.5 to 1 inch through tonight, but isolated spots could see more if showers “train” over the same corridor.

Hazardous boating conditions continue off Boca Raton and the Palm Beach/Broward coastal waters. East winds run about 20–25 knots with higher gusts near 30 knots, and seas build into the 7–12 foot range with occasional higher sets offshore; the Intracoastal can be rough in exposed areas.

A few thunderstorms may produce locally higher winds and seas. Conditions improve only slowly Monday into Tuesday, so small craft should remain in port and beachgoers should expect strong surf and dangerous nearshore currents.
