BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton will be partly sunny and hot today, with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly after 1 p.m. Highs will reach the upper 80s, and a west wind around 6–9 mph will keep the Atlantic sea breeze weaker than usual. Storms that form could bring brief heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds before fading early this evening. Tonight turns mostly clear and warm, with a lingering 30% chance of an early-evening shower or storm and lows near the mid-70s
South Florida’s weather pattern is still being shaped by a weak front stalled over central Florida early this morning. That boundary is expected to drift slowly south today toward the Lake Okeechobee region, then lose definition and fade over South Florida on Thursday.
While that sounds subtle, it matters because it helps focus where storms pop up later in the day. For Boca Raton, the morning should be mostly dry.
By early to mid-afternoon, daytime heating will build clouds, and scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop into the early evening. The National Weather Service notes that rain chances have trended a bit lower compared to recent days, but the setup still supports storms—especially across the interior and the east coast metro areas.
Winds near the surface will lean west to southwest today. That tends to push the best storm coverage away from the Gulf side and toward the interior and the Atlantic metro corridor, which includes Boca Raton.
Boaters and beachgoers near Boca Raton should expect a moderate southwest breeze today around 10 knots, increasing to 10–15 knots tonight. Seas run 2–4 feet, with occasional 5-footers offshore due to a building swell, especially in the northern Atlantic waters.
Thunderstorms this afternoon and early evening can quickly create locally higher winds and rougher seas, so keep an eye on the sky and radar. Along the beaches, an elevated rip current risk is expected today for Palm Beach County, including Boca Raton—swim near lifeguards and avoid entering the water alone.
