BOCA RATON, FL — Mostly sunny skies will dominate today, but it will look a bit hazy and feel even hotter than it looks. Highs reach around 92 in Boca Raton, with heat index values up to about 108 during the afternoon. Winds stay light, turning easterly at 5 to 10 mph as the sea breeze develops. Rain chances remain low near the coast, though a few showers or storms could pop up inland later today

South Florida’s weather pattern stays fairly steady today, and that’s a big reason the forecast is so straightforward for Boca Raton: lots of sun, limited rain, and intense heat. The National Weather Service notes broad high pressure over the western Atlantic and Florida, which keeps a gentle southeast-to-east breeze in place.

That onshore flow helps kick in the sea breeze, but it won’t be enough to knock down temperatures much along the coast. A key ingredient today is the dry, hazy Saharan air mass moving across the region.

In plain terms, that’s a layer of very dry air and fine dust that can make the sky look milky and can suppress widespread afternoon thunderstorms. Because of that, the best chance for a brief shower or storm is mainly over interior areas, while Boca Raton and the immediate coastline are more likely to stay dry.

The bigger impact is heat. Even with a forecast high near 92 at the coast, humidity will push “feels like” readings into the 105–110 range, with Boca’s peak heat index near 108.

Boating and beach conditions remain relatively calm, but the heat will be a factor on the water. For the Boca Raton area waters (Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach), expect southeast winds around 5 to 10 knots today with seas 2 feet or less and light chop on the Intracoastal.

Similar conditions continue tonight, with winds staying 5 to 10 knots and seas remaining low. With generally light-to-moderate onshore flow, beachgoers should still use caution and follow local beach flags, especially near piers and inlets where currents can be stronger even on low-surf days.
