BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Mostly sunny and breezy today with a high near 85, and only a small chance (around 20%) of a quick shower or thunderstorm after mid-morning. East winds around 15 mph will gust over 20 mph at times, making it feel a bit windier along the coast. Tonight stays warm and partly cloudy near 79 with a stray shower possible early. The high rip current risk continues for Atlantic beaches, so use extra caution if you’re heading to the water

Boca Raton’s weather today is being driven by a steady onshore breeze and a slow-moving weather system parked near the Bahamas. Forecasters describe an upper-level low lingering over the western Atlantic, and it’s close enough to occasionally send small “waves” of energy toward South Florida.

That setup helps spark a few showers over the warm Gulf Stream waters during the overnight and morning hours, then shifts the focus inland later in the day. Even though the atmosphere is fairly humid overall, computer guidance has trended a bit drier for today compared to the last few days.

That’s why rain chances in Boca remain on the low side, with isolated showers and thunderstorms rather than a widespread washout. Still, any storm that does form can be briefly intense: lightning is the top hazard, with a quick burst of wind and a short-lived heavy downpour possible.

The stronger and more numerous storms are expected to favor interior areas and especially Southwest Florida this afternoon, because the prevailing east wind tends to push the sea-breeze “collision zone” away from the Atlantic coast. For Boca, that usually means more sun than storms, but it only takes one cell to disrupt outdoor plans.

Boaters and beachgoers should plan around persistent easterly winds today. Nearshore Atlantic waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach run 15 to 20 knots with seas 3 to 4 feet (occasionally near 5 feet), and the Intracoastal will be choppy in exposed areas.

Winds ease a bit tonight and Wednesday, but conditions stay bumpy enough for “small craft should exercise caution.” Isolated showers and a thunderstorm are possible, and any storm can produce sudden gusts and locally higher seas. Along the beach, the high rip current risk remains the main concern through at least Wednesday evening.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

  • High Rip Current Risk through this evening for FLZ168-172-173.
  • Small Craft Should Exercise Caution (Atlantic waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach out 60 NM).
