UPDATE – John Grillo was arrested again for using his belt as a weapon.

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A Boca Raton man is facing serious charges in the aftermath of his assault on a security guard in the Apple Store at Boca’s Town Center Mall.

John Grillo allegedly took his belt off and repeatedly swung it at a security guard including at his face.

A police report from the Boca Raton Police Department reports an arrest was made because John Grillo who lives on NW 12th Avenue in Boca Raton assaulted the security guard. Grillo is being charged with 1 count of assault with a deadly weapon — without the intent to kill.

In the police report, the victim said the suspect became upset when he was told he had to wait at the front of the store to check in. The suspect allegedly took off his belt and began to swing it at the security guard and said “I’m going to rip your face off”. The suspect allegedly swung the metal end of the buckle at the victim’s face. It was noted in the report that the buckle never actually made contact with the victim’s face.

Grillo claimed he was being followed around by the security guard while in the store for no reason. The suspect also claimed that he removed his belt only after telling the victim to stop following him. He said that he only swung the belt at him once the victim “came at him”. When asked for more detail the suspect did not support that claim any further.

Grillo was arrested and booked into the PBSO jail where he was later released after posting a $4,000 bond.
