PALM SPRINGS, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — A Boca Raton man was arrested for DUI, according to jail records released to Boca Post by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Anderson, 53, of W Royal Palm Road in Boca Raton, was arrested near Lake Worth by the Palm Springs Police Department for DUI on Saturday afternoon. Boca Post has been notified that the charges filed include “DUI-UNLAW BLD ALCH – DUI INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS”.

Boca Post has also learned that Anderson was cited for driving on the wrong side of the roadway, failure to use the designated lane, and driving under the influence.

According to some of the ticket notes, Anderson told police he was preoccupied “looking at his phone and didn’t realize he was traveling in the wrong direction”.

Anderson was observed by Police traveling westbound in the eastbound lane on Lake Worth Road near Kirk Road.

According to an arrest affidavit submitted by Palm Springs Police Department, an officer observed Anderson driving his Mercedes in the wrong direction. As the officer approached to pull Anderson over, he struck another vehicle. The officer also reports that Anderson was on his cell phone at the time of the crash.

Anderson told police didn’t drink anything and that he was on his way home from playing golf at the Okeehelee golf course. When questioned, Anderson said he was still on Forest Hill Boulevard, when in fact, he was on Lake Worth Road. Anderson then refused all field sobriety tests and also later refused to provide a breath sample.

According to court records, Anderson has hired Douglas Rudman of The Rudman Law Group to represent him in this criminal case.
