BOCA RATON, FL — A Boca Raton woman accused of leaving the scene after striking a stop sign was later charged with felony battery on an officer and resisting with violence after police say she struck an officer during booking at the Boca Raton Police Department.
Allison Elsa Inberg, 47, of Boca Raton, was arrested by Boca Raton Police after a May 23, 2026 hit-and-run investigation near St. Andrews Boulevard, Potomac Road, and NW 34th Street, according to probable cause affidavits and Palm Beach County court records.
The first case, filed in Palm Beach County traffic court, charges Inberg with leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage under Florida Statute 316.061(1). A separate felony case charges her with battery on specified personnel and resisting an officer with violence.
According to the hit-and-run probable cause affidavit, Boca Raton Police responded at about 6:20 p.m. May 23 to the 3400 block of St. Andrews Boulevard after a reported crash involving a stop sign.
Police said witnesses reported seeing a white GMC Terrain strike a stop sign and continue away from the scene. One witness told police she was stopped at a red light at Potomac Road and St. Andrews Boulevard when Inberg allegedly began flashing her lights and waving her hands for the witness to move as the light turned green.
The affidavit says Inberg then allegedly went around the witness, drove north on St. Andrews Boulevard, made a fast and wide right turn onto NW 34th Street, and hit the stop sign. Police said the crash caused the sign to move about 15 feet into nearby bushes.
The affidavit says the driver continued away, struck a small pillar on the street, then eventually stopped, exited the vehicle, yelled and cursed, and left again. Police said the witness later identified Inberg as the driver.
Boca Raton Police then responded to Inberg’s residence on NW 39th Street after she allegedly stepped outside, according to the affidavit. Police said they detained her, read her constitutional warning, and that she did not want to speak with officers.
The affidavit says Inberg was visibly impaired in the officer’s observations, with a strong odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage and heavily slurred speech. The provided booking and court records list the hit-and-run charge and the two felony charges; they do not list a DUI charge.
Police said the vehicle parked outside the residence was a white GMC Terrain with damage to the front hood and lower front bumper, and that the damage matched the damaged stop sign. The affidavit says the stop sign was owned by the City of Boca Raton and the estimated damage was $100.
According to the affidavit, Inberg made statements after being advised of her rights, including that she knew if she had stayed at the scene and called police, it would not have been criminal. Police also wrote that she repeatedly said she had only hit a stop sign and nobody was hurt.
The hit-and-run crash was documented under Boca Raton Police case number 26-5481, according to the affidavit.
A second probable cause affidavit describes what police say happened later inside BRPD booking.
At about 10:30 p.m. May 23, an officer said Inberg was being removed from a cell in the Boca Raton Police Department booking area to prepare her for transport to the hospital for medical clearance related to the hit-and-run case.
The affidavit says an officer walked Inberg to a prisoner search area for a final search and handcuffing. Police said she was told multiple times to place her hands behind her back but did not comply and began turning toward the officer.
According to the affidavit, another officer assisted in trying to turn Inberg toward the wall and gain control of her. Police allege Inberg resisted, balled up her right fist, and struck the officer in the center chest near the body-camera area.
Police said officers then gained control of Inberg’s arms, handcuffed her, and placed her into a WRAP device and helmet after she began banging her forehead against the wall. She was taken to Boca Regional Hospital for medical clearance and later transported to the Palm Beach County Jail, according to the affidavit.
Palm Beach County jail booking information shows Inberg was booked May 24, 2026, and released later that day. The booking record lists two booking numbers: one for the felony charges and one for the traffic charge.
Palm Beach County court records show the traffic case is filed as 50-2026-CT-006468-AXXX-SB. The felony case is filed as 50-2026-CF-003835-AXXX-MB.
Court docket entries show probable cause was found in both cases. The traffic case was continued to an arraignment set for June 23, 2026. The felony case docket lists a 30-day return date on June 22, 2026, and an initial case conference on July 16, 2026.
The charges are allegations. Inberg is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
