Boca Raton Announces Holiday Decorating Contest

Residents of the City of Boca Raton are invited to participate in this exciting opportunity!

To be eligible, make sure to submit your entry within the specified timeframe.

Rules and Guidelines for Decorating Your House:

  1. This contest is open to all residents living in the City of Boca Raton.
  2. There is no cost or fees associated with entering.
  3. The focus of this contest is on exterior decorations only. Photos and a video should be submitted as evidence of your creative work. Please include three photos and one video.
  4. Judging will be based on the curb appeal as seen from the street through photo and video submissions.
  5. Let’s keep it fun and family friendly! Make sure your displays capture the holiday spirit and bring a touch of whimsy.
  6. By participating, you agree to allow us to showcase photos of your beautifully decorated home on our city website and social media platforms.
  7. The judging criteria will consider
    1. Creativity; Originality, unique design or use of a storyline or theme (30%)
    2. Lights and Decorations; Display arrangement (25%)
    3. Special Effects; Sound effects, animation, etc. (15%)
    4. Overall Appearance; Effort put into decorating and attractiveness (30%)
  8. Judging will solely rely on submitted photos/videos for evaluation.

Make sure that you have set up and activated all your lights, animations and decorations as provided in the assets. This will help judges assess your entry fairly. You will be informed in advance about the day the judges plan to arrive, although weather conditions may lead to changes in the schedule.

There are four categories for which trophies will be awarded:

  • Best Entryway
  • Best Traditional
  • Best Use of Imagination
  • Best Overall

The winners will receive an email notification on December 22, 2023. Additionally, the City of Boca Raton will announce the contest winners through their social media channels. If your entry is selected, you can collect your trophy and yard sign from the Boca Raton Community Center starting from December 22, 2023 during building hours.

Remember to submit your videos and photos showcasing your best holiday exterior house decorations by December 7th. The application period opens on November 2nd and closes on December 7th. Judging will take place from December 8th to December 15th, with the winners being announced on December 17th.

Please note that only entries within the City of Boca Raton limits will be considered for this contest (If you are uncertain whether you fall within city limits or not, you can check our website for a map).

Winners will receive

  • The ultimate bragging rights
  • A trophy
  • A yard sign

Furthermore, they will have their winning entry featured on the City’s website and social media platforms!
