BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Another Boca Raton-area pizza shop is getting national attention after a visit from Dave Portnoy, who stopped at Bella Amici as part of his ongoing Barstool Pizza Review.
The review, filmed during a multi-stop day of pizza sampling across South Florida, featured a quick interaction with staff before Portnoy stepped outside to deliver his signature one-bite score.
Bella Amici, operated by a husband-and-wife team who told Portnoy they’ve been running the restaurant for about five years, drew a warm reception during the visit. One of the owners, Lisa, greeted Portnoy enthusiastically, telling him she and her husband had been “dying” for him to stop in.
After taking a bite, Portnoy described the pizza as “a nice dry clean pizza,” noting a good crust and overall balance. He assigned the shop a 7.6 rating, placing it in what he described as a strong tier on his current scale.
“76 to 79 is all really good scores,” Portnoy said during the review, emphasizing that he does not hand out scores in that range casually.
The stop was one of several recorded that day, with Portnoy noting the group had been “driving around” extensively while sampling multiple pizzerias.
In addition to the review itself, the visit included a brief exchange with a passerby who recognized the filming and asked about promotional opportunities, highlighting the visibility the Barstool series brings to local businesses.
The Barstool Pizza Review has built a national following, and appearances often translate into increased attention for featured restaurants, particularly in the days immediately following publication.
For Bella Amici, the Boca Raton-area stop puts the restaurant in front of that audience — and lands it a score that Portnoy himself considers firmly in the “very good” category.
