BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — An arrest was made this week for the rape of a 13-year-old girl which occurred at the Dixie Manor public housing complex in March of 2021.

Carlos Correa-Martinez, 20, a resident of the Dixie Manor, a public housing complex located at 1350 N Dixie Hwy, in Boca Raton, is under arrest and being charged with the rape of a 13-year-old female victim which allegedly happened on the property in March.

According to a lengthy police report submitted by Boca Raton Police Department, a 13-year-old girl ran away from home last March. The girl was reportedly acting erratically on March 2nd, 2021 where she was last seen at Boca Raton Middle School. The girl was sleeping at an abandoned apartment in Dixie Manor to avoid trouble at home.

One night, while she was sleeping in the abandoned units, the girl says that 2 men came into the unit via a sliding door that she didn’t know was unlocked. The two men asked her if she wanted to buy some weed, she said “no get out I’m trying to sleep”. The girl reported that one of the then men sexually assaulted her while the other one went through her things.

When the two men left, they took a bag of hers which contained approximately $14,000. It is reported that the girl took that cash from her mother earlier and was giving it away when she was last seen at the school. It is unclear what the girl was planning on doing with the cash.

The girl was found by Boca Police and after being baker-acted for other issues, she eventually talked about the sexual assault to authorities. Boca PD conducted an investigation which included DNA testing at the crime scene and followed up on reports based on the girl knowing one of the subjects by the name of ‘Carlos’.

In October, Boca PD spoke with Carlos who denied everything. Carlos only admitted that he did see a girl who met the description of the victim walking through the property but denied interacting with her except offering her water. Carlos said he had a newborn and wouldn’t compromise himself in that type of situation.

Several days later, Carlos reached out to Boca PD with a different story. Carlos told investigators that the other subject, now identified as, Curis Pearson, told Carlos that he tried to have sex with the girl. Pearson visited Carlos with a significant amount of money he claimed to have taken from the girl. Carlos continued to deny any involvement with the girl or being in the apartment.

In December, Boca PD received DNA evidence that suggested Carlos has been lying. Carlos’ DNA was found on the victim’s undergarments. The victim also positively ID’d Carlos during a photo array and said that he “raped” her when asked by an investigator who didn’t know anything about the case.

Investigators arrested Carlos on February 17th, 2022, and interviewed him again. Carlos’ story changed again and said that he had consensual sex with the girl. Carlos’ story now was that the girl came over and started performing sexual acts on him and then the two had sex on his patio. He said that after the sex he went inside and went to bed with his Fiance.

Carlos is currently in custody of PBSO on a $270,000 bond jail facing the following charges:

  • 800.04(4A1) LEWD/LASCIVIOUS BATTERY VICTIM UNDER 16
  • 790.01(1) CARRYING A CONCEALED WEAPON
