BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton is starting the day with low visibility concerns, then flipping quickly into a warm, bright afternoon that ends with a late storm chance.
The morning begins with patchy fog before 9 a.m. near the Boca Raton Airport area. If you are on the road early, especially moving between western neighborhoods and the I-95 corridor, expect pockets where visibility drops fast. Fog can sit low along canals and open areas, then lift in a hurry once the sun gets up and the breeze starts moving.
After that, the forecast turns mostly sunny. Temperatures push to a high near 80 in the Boca area. It will feel like a typical late-February warm-up where you step outside mid-morning and it is already climbing, and by the early afternoon it feels like beach weather from the Intracoastal to Glades Road.
Rain is not the main story for most of the day, but it is not off the table either. The point forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5 p.m. That puts the window right in the after-school, after-work stretch when people are headed home on I-95 or running errands along Federal Highway. It will not be a washout, but if a storm pops it can briefly change conditions fast with lightning and a quick downpour.
Winds stay fairly light through the day, coming in from the southeast at 7 to 11 mph. That light onshore push is enough to freshen things up near the beaches and keep the air moving, but not enough to rule out a late-day storm cell developing nearby.
Beachgoers should note the broader beach outlook from the National Weather Service: a moderate risk of rip currents continues for Palm Beach County beaches today. Winds are described as light southerly, which is part of why the rip current threat has eased compared to stronger onshore patterns, but it has not dropped to low. If you are headed to the water, swim near a lifeguard and keep an eye on conditions.
On the water, the local marine forecast for the coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach calls for south winds 10 to 15 knots today with seas around 2 feet. The Intracoastal is expected to run light chop. There is also a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms late. In other words, most of the day looks manageable for boaters, but storms can create locally higher winds and seas quickly if one develops near your route.
Advisories
A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. for inland South Florida, with the National Weather Service warning that a fog and smoke mix could drop visibility to near zero in spots and create dangerous driving conditions early this morning, especially on inland routes. For Boca Raton, the local point forecast also calls for patchy fog before 9 a.m.
