Delray Beach Man Arrested For Dui After Speeding In Front Of Deputy – Kyle Krause

DELRAY BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — A Delray Beach man was arrested for DUI after he was pulled over for speeding in front of a deputy in unincorporated Boynton Beach on Tuesday evening.

A PBSO deputy was was at a stop light on Boynton Beach Boulevard when a black Mercedes accelerated at a high speed directly in front of the deputy. The deputy noted in a police report that the deputy received several calls about the vehicle driving recklessly prior to observing it.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop on the black Mercedes and met the driver, Kyle Krause, 30, of Delray Beach. Krause told the deputy he was coming home from work. The deputy was suspicious when Krause was observed with bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. The deputy also reports that a beer can was observed in the cup holder of the vehicle.

Part of the narrative from the arrest affidavit submitted by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office is found below:

“I exited my vehicle and made a driver-side approach to the vehicle. I then introduced myself and stated the reason for the stop. The driver stated he was going home from work. While speaking with the driver I noticed his eyes were bloodshot/watery and he had slurred speech. I also observed an empty beer can in the center cup holder. The driver provided me a Florida DL where was able to identify him as Kyle Krause (K620516920280). After returning to the vehicle, I asked Kyle to exit the vehicle and walk to the front of mine. While speaking to him outside of the vehicle, I could smell the odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from her facial area. Kyle stated he had a couple of Coors Light beers after work. Based on my suspicion that he had been drinking, I asked Kyle would he consent to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Evaluations (SFSTs) for the purpose of determining if he was impaired while operating a motor vehicle. Kyle agreed to do so. Prior to the start of the exercises, I asked if he had any medical issues, injuries, and/or using drugs, and he stated “no”.

The deputy then performed a series of sobriety tests which Krause failed. Krause was then arrested for DUI. Krause provided breath samples where he blew a .246 and a .245, three times the legal limit in Florida.

Boca Post has since learned that, at the time of the arrest, Kyle Krause was the Superintendent of Okeeheelee Golf Course.

Kyle Krause was booked into the PBSO jail shortly after 11 PM where he was released only 5 hours later without bond.
