Severe Weather Alert - Sunday, July 12, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL — South Florida is dealing with a dangerous evening storm setup as a Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Sunday for east-central Collier, Broward and south-central Palm Beach counties. While Boca Raton is not specifically listed in the warning polygon, residents should stay alert for rapidly changing conditions, especially if storms drift east or new cells develop nearby. Expect a quick-hitting threat of damaging wind, very large hail, intense lightning and brief flooding in the hardest-hit areas.

Even outside the core warning area, including Boca Raton and the coastal metro, residents should be prepared for frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and brief street flooding if storms expand eastward. Avoid windows, bring pets indoors, and move vehicles into covered parking if time allows.

Never drive through flooded roadways — water depth can be deceptive and can stall or sweep vehicles away.

Important Information

  • Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 8:00 PM EDT Sunday for east-central Collier, Broward, and south-central Palm Beach counties.
