BSO Traffic Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a Monday afternoon driveway crash at a home on Allen Road in West Park that killed a toddler.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL — Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the death of a toddler after a car crash Monday afternoon in West Park.

Detectives said the crash happened shortly after 2 p.m. at a home at 124 Allen Road.

According to BSO, Ericka Cante Hernandez was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Suburban out of the driveway when her son, Wilson Matias Jr., ran out of the home and was struck by the vehicle.

BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene. Paramedics transported the child to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he died.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. At this time, detectives said they believe the crash was accidental in nature.

BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit is handling the investigation. Residents should expect the agency to continue gathering information as detectives work to document what happened and complete the case review.
