BOCA RATON, FL — Today will be sunny and hot, with a high near 91 and heat index values pushing into the low 100s. Winds stay light from the east, and most neighborhoods should stay rain-free. Tonight is mostly clear and warm, near 80. By Tuesday, clouds build and a few afternoon storms return, with higher rain chances later in the week

South Florida gets a brief break from the daily storm routine today, and Boca Raton is right in the middle of it. The National Weather Service says high pressure aloft is still in control, and a drier pocket of air has moved in.

That’s why rain chances are very low today across the east coast metro, with any isolated showers more likely to stay well to our southwest. The trade-off is heat.

With fewer clouds and less rain-cooled air around, temperatures climb quickly late morning through mid-afternoon. For Boca Raton, the forecast calls for a high near 91, but it will feel hotter than that.

Heat index values are expected to reach the low 100s locally, and the broader region remains in a Moderate to Major HeatRisk category. Even if official advisory criteria aren’t met everywhere, the impacts can still add up fast for anyone working or exercising outdoors.

For the Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach coastal waters, winds stay light today, generally southeast 5 to 10 knots, with seas 2 feet or less and only a light chop on the Intracoastal. Tonight remains similar, with winds turning more southerly late.

On Tuesday, winds are light (around 5 knots), shifting onshore in the afternoon as the sea breeze develops. Thunderstorm chances return Tuesday night and increase midweek; any storm can briefly bring stronger wind gusts, higher seas, and dangerous lightning near the beaches and inlets.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

  • Heat index values will be closely monitored for potential advisory
