Today's Weather - Tuesday, June 16, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL — Expect a hot, mostly sunny Tuesday with a high near 91 and heat index values up to around 105. A few showers and thunderstorms may pop up late this afternoon and early evening, with the best window after about 5 PM. South winds run 6 to 15 mph with gusts near 20 mph, adding a breezy feel at times. Tonight stays warm and partly cloudy near 79, with any storms ending early

South Florida stays locked in a summer pattern today, and that means two main storylines for Boca Raton: heat and a late-day storm chance. The National Weather Service notes high pressure over the Atlantic is keeping the overall setup steady, while winds a few thousand feet up are coming from the southwest.

At the ground, winds are mainly from the south. That wind combination matters because it tends to hold the Atlantic sea breeze close to the east coast for longer, rather than letting it push far inland early.

When the sea breeze boundary stalls near the metro areas, it can act like a “spark line” for thunderstorms later in the day. For Boca Raton, that supports the forecast of only a 30% chance of storms today, mainly after 5 PM, but any storm that does develop can be briefly intense.

The bigger day-to-day impact is the heat. With highs around 91 and sticky humidity, it will feel closer to 105 during the hottest part of the afternoon.

For boaters and beachgoers near Boca Raton, winds stay generally southerly at 10 to 15 knots today with seas around 2 feet, and light chop on the Intracoastal. Conditions are manageable outside of storms, but scattered thunderstorms are possible late today and again at times this week.

Any storm can quickly create locally higher winds and rougher seas, along with frequent lightning. If you’re on the water late afternoon or early evening, keep a close eye on the sky and have a plan to get to safe harbor quickly.
