DELRAY BEACH, FL — A 17-year-old Hyundai driver was critically injured in a crash involving a Peterbilt truck on U.S. Highway 441 near Delray Beach, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
PBSO said the crash happened at 10:32 a.m. on June 9, 2026, in the 14000 block of U.S. Highway 441, also known as State Road 7, near Pero Family Farms.
According to the PBSO crash report, a 2023 Peterbilt 567 was traveling eastbound from the entrance and exit of Pero Family Farms and was making a left turn to travel northbound on U.S. 441. Investigators said the rear portion of the truck remained partially in the inside southbound travel lane because of the vehicle’s length.
PBSO said a 2023 Hyundai Sonata was traveling southbound in the inside lane of U.S. 441 and was approaching the entrance and exit area when the front left portion of the Hyundai collided with the rear left portion of the Peterbilt.
After the impact, the Hyundai continued southeast onto the center median, crossed the northbound travel lanes, and then struck a guardrail on the eastern shoulder, according to the report. PBSO said the Hyundai was then redirected southwest and came to rest partially in the bicycle lane and the northbound right-turn lane.
PBSO identified the Hyundai driver as Fabiana Natalia Torres Motta, 17, of Greenacres. She was transported to Delray Medical Center with serious injuries. The report also lists her injury status as critical.
The Peterbilt driver, identified by PBSO as Guerre Yves Destouches, 32, of Lake Worth Beach, was not injured, according to the report. A passenger in the Peterbilt, identified as Todd Matthew Wilson, 59, of Boynton Beach, was also not injured.
