BOCA RATON, FL — A 24-year-old Lantana man has been arrested on attempted murder charges in connection with a May 25 shooting outside The Standard Cuisine & Cocktails on SE Mizner Boulevard, where Boca Raton Police said two adults were injured.
Christian Joseph Ippolito was taken into custody late June 3 after Boca Raton Police detectives obtained an arrest warrant, according to the department. He is charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder with a firearm and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling.
The arrest updates a shooting Boca Post first reported May 25, when police said two adults were injured outside The Standard at 187 SE Mizner Boulevard.
According to Boca Raton Police, the shooting happened just after 12:30 a.m. May 25 after Ippolito became involved in a verbal altercation with a victim outside the restaurant. Police said the two knew each other.
Immediately after the confrontation, police allege, Ippolito retrieved a firearm from his waistband area and fired two rounds toward the victim. One person was shot in the chest area, and a patron inside the restaurant was shot in the leg, according to Boca Raton Police.
Both victims were transported by Boca Raton Fire Rescue to a local hospital. Police said the victim shot in the chest area is now in stable condition, and the patron shot in the leg was later released from the hospital.
The probable cause affidavit provides additional details about what detectives say they found during the investigation. According to the affidavit, Boca Raton Police Communications received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired at The Standard, with information that two people had apparent gunshot wounds.
When officers arrived, they rendered lifesaving aid until Boca Raton Fire Rescue arrived, the affidavit states. Detectives later documented a shattered windowpane near the main entrance, blood inside the establishment near the broken window, two 9mm spent shell casings in the exterior parking lot, and eyeglasses found along an east walkway.
The affidavit is marked as containing confidential victim information under Marsy’s Law. Boca Post is not naming the injured victims in this story.
Investigators obtained surveillance video from multiple surrounding businesses, according to the affidavit. Detectives wrote that the video showed a white sedan entering the shopping center from Southeast Mizner Boulevard before several people later walked toward The Standard.
At about 12:29 a.m., three people, including the suspect, were seen entering the patio area, according to the affidavit. Detectives described the suspect in the video as wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, gray hat and eyeglasses.
A few minutes later, according to police, a verbal altercation occurred just east of the main sidewalk to the restaurant. A witness stepped between the suspect and one of the victims, the affidavit states. Seconds later, police allege, the suspect pulled a firearm from his waistband and fired two rounds.
The affidavit states that the suspect then fled northbound on foot, briefly returned toward the area of the shooting in what detectives described as an apparent attempt to locate missing eyeglasses, and then ran toward the white sedan. Surveillance from Alina Residences, located across the street, showed what appeared to be the same sedan making a U-turn before continuing northbound on Mizner Boulevard, according to the affidavit.
Detectives also cited witness identifications in the affidavit. One witness told police he knew Ippolito from Olympic Heights High School and identified him in surveillance imagery. A former Olympic Heights football coach also reviewed footage and told detectives he was “pretty confident” the person shown was Ippolito, according to the affidavit.
Police also interviewed the owner of Patsy’s Pizzeria, where investigators said Ippolito was employed. According to the affidavit, the owner reviewed surveillance footage and identified the man in the white shirt as “Christian,” saying he was his employee.
As of May 29, the affidavit stated that the victim shot in the chest remained hospitalized in critical but stable condition and was unable to provide a statement. Boca Raton Police said in the June 4 release that the victim is now stable.
Court records list the case as Palm Beach County Circuit Court case number 50-2026-CF-004111-AXXX-MB. A booking record shows Ippolito was booked into the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center late June 3 and was being held with no bond listed.
The charges are allegations. Ippolito has not been convicted in the case.
