BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Mostly sunny and hot today, with Boca Raton topping out around 92-93 degrees and a breezy south wind gusting into the 20s. It will feel like early summer, and the National Weather Service notes heat safety is important with near-record warmth. Late tonight into early Sunday, a cold front moves through and sets up a much wetter Sunday with widespread showers and thunderstorms. Sunday will also be noticeably cooler, with highs near 80 and periods of heavy rain possible, especially in stronger storms
Boca Raton is sitting in the warm, humid “south wind” side of a large storm system today, and that’s the main reason for the near-record heat. The National Weather Service in Miami says strong winds high in the atmosphere are helping a low-pressure system deepen off the Carolinas, while a cold front pushes south through Florida.
Ahead of that front, South Florida stays in a warm flow from the south to southwest, and that warm air is being reinforced through the day. With plenty of sunshine and a gusty breeze mixing warmer air down to the surface, temperatures climb quickly this afternoon.
Boca Raton is forecast to reach the low 90s, and a few spots just inland could run even hotter. Even though humidity may dip a bit during peak heating, the combination of strong sun and high temperatures can still lead to heat-related illness if you’re outside for long stretches.
Take breaks, hydrate, and never leave kids or pets in a parked car. Rain chances stay low through most of today, but a few showers could try to develop late tonight toward daybreak as a weakening line of showers approaches from the west.
Boating conditions deteriorate today as southerly winds strengthen ahead of the front. The National Weather Service has a Small Craft Advisory from noon to 8 p.m.
for the Atlantic waters off Palm Beach County, including the Boca area offshore waters, with south winds 15–20 knots and seas 2–4 feet (occasionally 5). Winds ease some tonight, but showers and a few thunderstorms can bring sudden higher gusts and rougher seas.
On Sunday and Monday, winds turn north to northeast behind the front and seas build to 3–5 feet (occasionally 6), keeping the Gulf Stream choppy. For the beach: Palm Beach County has a high rip current risk today; swim near lifeguards and avoid venturing out alone.
Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings
- High Rip Current Risk through this evening for Palm Beach County beaches (FLZ168).
- Small Craft Advisory from noon today through this evening for Atlantic waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach out 20 NM and 20-60 NM (AMZ650-670).
- Red Flag Warning from 11 AM to 7 PM today for inland Palm Beach and inland Broward (and nearby interior counties) due to gusty winds and dry fuels (FLZ071).
