Denley Junior Alexis, 22, Shot By Deputies In Unincorporated Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A 22-year-old man is in jail after being shot by deputies in unincorporated Boynton Beach.

According to a spokesperson with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, a man called 911 to report a man with a knife in front of Firehouse Subs on the 9900 block of S. Military Trail in unincorporated Boynton Beach early on Monday morning. The caller turned out to be the “man with a knife”, later identified as Denley Junior Alexis.

Deputies responded find a confrontational Alexis with two knives. PBSO says the deputies attempted to de-escelate the situation; however, Alexis ultimately lunged at one of the deputies. PBSO says that one of the deputies shot Alexis several times.

Both deputies then allegedly rendered aid to Alexis who was later transported to a local hospital. After treatment, Alexis was then transported to the PBSO jail where he was booked. Alexis was arrested and charged wtih the following:

  • Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Resisting Arrest with Violence

PBSO says that both deputies were placed on administrative leaver with pay, which is standard operating procedure for the aftermath for a deputy-involved shooting, an increasingly more common situation.
