Two Juveniles Injured. 63 Year Old Man Deceased After Crashing Boat In Highland Beach On Saturday, January 15th, 2022.

HIGHLAND BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating a boating accident that occurred on the intracoastal waterway near Highland Beach on Saturday, January 15th, 2022.

Update 1/17/22 – 2:40PM

One 63 year old man confirmed deceased after crashing a 25 foot center console vessel in to the dock at 3310 Ocean Drive in Highland Beach. This was after the man lost control of the boat due to encountering a rough wake on the intracoastal waterway. FWC confirms that two juveniles were transported to Delray Medical Center for treatment.

We have received the following statement from FWC:

On January 152022, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) was notified of a boating accident involving a 25’ center console vessel that was headed northbound on the intracoastal waterway (ICW) in Highland Beach. The vessel was carrying three occupants when it encountered a wake and lost control, hitting a dock near 3310 Ocean Drive. The operator, Mr. Richard Patrick Mineo (DOB 04/31/1958), was pronounced deceased on scene while two juveniles were transported to Delray Medical Center. This is an active investigation.

The incident appeared first on Boca Post as a “OPEN WATER INCIDENT” at 2:14PM EST on CODE3, our interactive map of LIVE 911 calls and dispatches throughout Palm Beach and Broward Counties. The dispatch address that came in to first responders was 3310 S Ocean Blvd, Highland Beach, FL 33487 which is a condo building on the intracoastal waterway in Highland Beach.

Reports of multiple agencies responding to the rescue scene including Boca Raton Police Department, FWC, and Coast Guard were reported by Boca Post readers. The Medical Examiner was also seen staging in the area. We are told that FWC has taken the lead on this investigation.
