Today’s Weather - Thursday, February 26, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton starts the day on the quiet side. Skies stay mostly sunny and the afternoon should feel comfortable for late February, with a high near 77. Winds come in from the southeast at 7 to 13 mph, with gusts up to 18 mph, so you will notice a steady breeze around the I 95 corridor and along the Intracoastal.

Rain is not a lock, but it is not zero either. The forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of showers after 1 pm. If anything pops up, it is more likely in the early to mid afternoon window, and many neighborhoods will stay dry.

At the beach, the bigger impact today is not rain. It is the surf and the pull. The weather service says the high risk of rip currents will hold at Palm Beach County beaches through this evening as a northeasterly swell gradually subsides. That includes Boca’s oceanfront and the stretch of sand where people tend to hop in fast because it looks calm from the walkway. It can be deceptive. If you are heading out with kids, or even just planning a quick swim after work, this is a day to keep it shallow, stay close to guards, or skip the water.

Tonight stays mild with a low around 68. There is a slight chance of showers before 3 am, then another slight chance after 4 am, but overall skies are expected to be mostly clear. Winds turn southerly at 6 to 10 mph. Rain odds remain low, 20 percent.

For boaters and anyone watching conditions near the inlets, the marine forecast for waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach calls for south winds 10 to 15 knots today with seas 2 to 4 feet, occasionally up to 5 feet. The Intracoastal is expected to have a light chop. Tonight, seas ease to 2 to 3 feet with continued south winds 10 to 15 knots.

One other note from the broader South Florida forecast discussion: the weather service says dense smoke will continue across parts of interior southwest Florida near the National Fire, with low visibility issues tied to that smoke and guidance for drivers to follow local officials. That impacts Alligator Alley closures in the interior, not Boca directly, but it is part of the regional picture in today’s discussion.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

A Rip Current Statement remains in effect for Coastal Palm Beach County, with a high rip current risk through Thursday evening. The National Weather Service warns that dangerous rip currents can pull even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water. The guidance is simple: swim near a lifeguard. If you get caught in a rip current, relax and float, do not fight it, and try to move parallel to the shoreline if you can. If you cannot get out, face the beach and wave or call for help.
